FAQs

Do you have an office?

Yes. I work in person in my office in Point Breeze, Pittsburgh. Whenever possible, I invite you to come in for sessions — there’s something grounding and meaningful about being in the same room together. If needed, I can also offer telehealth appointments.

For couples therapy, I ask that all participants meet in the same way: either all in person or all virtual.

Do you take insurance?

As of winter 2026, I am no longer accepting new insurance clients and am in the process of de-paneling from insurance networks. I offer private pay appointments, and once de-panelled can offer Out of Network (OON) which means you can request reimbursement directly from your insurance provider after paying for sessions.

This shift allows me to focus on the work itself — without the constraints and diagnostic requirements that insurance systems often impose.

What are your fees?

I am open to discussing fees and creating a structure that feels manageable for both of us. I go into more detail on my Fees page. But in general, I bill $150 per 50-minute session for individual psychotherapy. If that feels out of reach, we can talk about an adjusted fee.

What should I expect in the first session?

In our first meeting, we’ll talk about what brings you here and what you hope to understand or change. I’ll ask questions to get a sense of your background, but there’s nothing you need to prepare. The most important thing is that we start where you are.

How often should we meet?

Frequency depends on the kind of work we’re doing and what feels most helpful. Some people meet once per week; others meet several times per week when we’re working more deeply. We can think together about what pace feels right and possible.

How long does therapy last?

There’s no fixed timeline. Some people come for a few months to work through a particular difficulty; others stay for several years as they explore longer-standing emotional patterns. We’ll discuss what makes sense for you in our first sessions and as the work unfolds.

What’s therapy going to do?

If I had to distill it: therapy helps us get closer to reality — to see more clearly, to feel more fully, and to try to understand the unconscious patterns that keep us repeating what hurts. From that understanding, change becomes possible.

Do you work with LGBTQ+ clients or those exploring sexuality or gender?

Yes. I welcome individuals and couples of all genders, sexualities, and relationship structures. Many of my patients come to explore questions of sexuality, identity, and intimacy in an open and thoughtful way.

What’s your cancellation or absence policy?

Each session time is reserved specifically for you. I ask that you pay for all scheduled sessions, including those missed or cancelled, with a few exceptions each year for emergencies or unavoidable circumstances. If it is a holiday, or if I am not working that day, you will not be responsible for payment. We can discuss the details as needed.
